Question of the Week: What are you thankful for in your author career?

Jim’s sniffles kept this show short, tight, and intriguing, as he and Bryan discussed tips on author estate planning, transitioning to owning a business, and building your brand. After thanking their latest patrons, Kathy Coatney ( http://www.kathycoatney.com/dads-girls/ ), Percival Constantine ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013ZBP8WK ), and Bobby Adair ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E4VT778 ), this Thanksgiving twosome took on stories about Wattpad, book apps, Amazon ads, bookstores doubling as publishers, and what we should be thankful for. • I am thankful for my wife. She is, by far, the most supportive person I have ever met, putting up with my creative whims for nearly 25 years. And my daughter, now 23, who is my creative sounding board. Without them, I’d never be a writer.

    • Bryan

Woo for women putting up with us! 🙂

  • Simon Goodson

I’m grateful for Jim finding the snooze button before he sneezed! Get well soon.

    • Bryan

  • Simon Goodson

More seriously… I’m just thankful for the chance to do this for myself without any gate keepers. And for the incredible community that just keeps giving… and for Jim and Bryan digging out the best bits.

    • Bryan

Happy to dig for you, Simon!

  • Honoree Corder

I’m grateful to have a career at all! And I’m grateful for this show. <3 And, I hope Jim feels better very soon.

    • Bryan

Woo! And we’re grateful for our occasional guest co-host! 🙂

  • There are so many things I am thankful for, but here are just a few…
    – the amazing indie author community
    – the wonderful people who spend their time creating content from which other authors can learn and grow (especially podcasts! 😉 )
    – my husband and my family for believing in me
    – other authors, readers, and bloggers I’ve connected with
    – the ability to do something I love without asking for permission

    • Bryan

      Good answers, Bettina! 🙂

  • Patrick O’Donnell

Thank you Jim and Bryan for all of the good information and entertainment every week!!!

    • Bryan

      Aw, thank you, Patrick!!

      • Spider McGee

You seem to have something nice to say about everything.

Hey, wait a second, I’ve got a great idea for a podcast!

        • Bryan

          I think it’ll work!

  • I’m thankful for a publishing industry that has developed to the point where I am free to pursue my passion on my own terms and timing.

    • Bryan

  • I’m thankful that indie publishing led me to my coauthor and now wife.

    • Bryan

I didn’t know that. Very awesome. Improv comedy led me to my wife, but indie publishing has led to many other awesome relationships :).
